A dollar for every time someone told me!

So today I attended my sister's baby showers!! YEA! I am the last to get married and the last to have children soooooo over and over I was continually asked when I was going to have a baby. My responses differed depending on the person!
1. Oh when I'm done with school
2. Oh we have only been married 10 months, just waiting
3. Maybe in a few years
4. When we wouldn't have the government pay for it.
5.When Derrick and I are both done with school...
6. When one of us has insurance
ect... ect.... ect
I think I made something different up every time! haha If I have a dollar every time I was asked today... I would at least have enough money to enjoy a good night on the town with my husband and baby less!

Besides the fact that we feel is not right for the time, WHY must everybody think, now that your married you must have kids.... REALLY.... Is it selfish to want time with my hubby and get to know each other better first! When the time is right we will know and we do want children one day. One of us need to be out of school and working in the real world with a real job and insurance!

Quotes we shared with our students everyday for the week....

Sunday~ The best way to find yourself is to loose yourself in the service of others.
Gandhi
Monday~ Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within, it is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us, which makes us happy, it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves.
~Helen Keller
Tuesday~ I know of no great man except those who have rendered great service to the human race.
~Voltiare
Wednesday~ Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
Albert Einstein
Thursday~ I don’t know what your destiny will be , but one thing I do know, the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and  found how to serve.
Albert Schweitzer
Friday~ Consciously or unconsciously, every one of us does render some service or another. If we cultivate the habit of doing this service deliberately, our desire for service will seedily grow stronger, and it will make not only for our own happiness, but that of the world at large.
~Mahatma Gandhi

Winnemucka

Yea so I am sitting on a broken down bus in Winne-freakin-mucka, Nevada. Yes the bus has broken down. I am pretty sure I can not handle this another year. I have gone three years in a row and we are three for three years with a broken bus. The whole week is way stressful as is let alone a bad bus. We actually have had problems with it from early on. The brakes have been acting up (which by the way I had a dream that the brakes went out while driving the streets of San Fran... I protested city driving and the only scary road we had to drive down I closed my eyes and said a prayer), the bus wobbles when we turn right, and our blinkers have worked on and off. The problem we have broken down for is entirely different.   We are leaking oil on a wheel bearing.... leaking like puddles of oil by the minute, until it is all gone. We are currently waiting for a bus to come from our University to rescue us. By the time is gets here and we transfer everything over; we are looking at a 24 hour road trip home.... that is insane! It did not help that it took 5 hours to make it up and over Doner's pass. Chains were required on every vehicle! We think it was then that the bus broke, we heard something but found nothing. Too bad we did not have the good bus! Our bus driver is way amazing and has been a good sport about everything! I do not want this little episode to ruin our trip. It has been amazing to see 30 strangers become the best of friends! A week of serving others can do wonders on people! I love the feeling of knowing that I am helping someone and the lasting impact it can have on their life! Wow I have way more funny stories to tell later and pictures to post!

Off to San Francisco

Well we are off on another adventure this Sunday. This year Derrick is in charge of Alternative Spring Break at Weber State. I feel some days that I might as well be! ASB is where 30 Weber State students get to go somewhere and serve for the week. We are going this year to San Francisco area. We will actually be staying in Oakland at a Sikh temple. There in Oakland we will be working on 9 duplexes. WE will be hanging doors and window, insulation, drywalling, painting you name it. We have written grants to keep the cost low and the school helps the cover charge too. This years cost was only $160, which includes: transportation, housing, and food for 7 days. Putting everything together is exhausting! I love watching everything pull together nicely! I have a rant, so bare with me; we put our paperwork in back in Sept. for a nice good bus. We were given the bus we wanted but a week ago it was taken from us and we were given a crapy bus that broke down on us last year and the luggage compartments on the bus stay closed due to duct-tape.  It bothers me that the sports programs pressured the transportation coordinator for the bus that was ours! I am sososo annoyed! We should not be treated any different when we are paying the same price and even if we weren't! I will live with it... but help that guy who gave us the broken bus if it breaks down. He already knows what I think of the situation! As of late I have been in charge of making a menu for the week! Has anyone tried to make a menu for a week of food for 30 people on a budget? I can now say I have! It has been CRAZY! Tomorrow I will go and buy all the food and take it with us on the bus! I am excited to go all in all! We both have worked so hard for a year to pull this off! I post pictures when I get back!
