Woodbadge

Instead of gifts from our parents last Christmas, Derrick and I’s parents gave us money to put towards Woodbage. My mom was going to be on staff.
“Wood Badge offers a six day immersion in the theory, practice, and experience of effective skills for leading others within Scouting and in many environments beyond the BSA. Like many intense training experiences, it guides participants through learning activities where they work together, organize, and develop an enthusiasm and team spirit to accomplish the tasks and challenges placed before them.”
We were put into patrols and I was in the Beaver Patrol and Derrick was an Owl. I loved the week and it sincerely helped me gain the spirit of scouting and helped to me be a better leader and person! Oh and no one mentioned to me that we would have to sleep outside.... YES in the snow!! The first night I was FREEEZING and the second night I was pleasantly warm because everyone gave me extra stuff!!
At the end of the week we left with “tickets”, these are 5 goals of how we are going to directly help the scouts. We have 18 months to accomplish these so we can earn my Woodbadge beads!

Lehman Family

Derrick’s cousins came from California for their spring break the day before we were leaving on our adventure!! I got to ride with them to Evanston, WY to buy legal fireworks and set them off in UT illegally! With minor screaming, dodging, and lecturing involved, the fireworks were fun to watch in March!
We love this family and wished we could have spent more time with them!
only photo we took of the Lehman family!

50 Posts to come!

50 Posts to come! I hope it doesn’t take me 50 days to update it!  Crazy I know!! So many things have happened in our lives since the last time I posted! I kept mini posts so I could come back and update it!! Here is goes! Some may ask why update it when I can just start to write from here on out.... I love to write what I see, feel, touch, taste, and hear! It somehow makes me feel a little more resolved inside; I am able to write and talk out everything that happens to me. This Blog is pretty much for me! I hope to get it printed one day!!

Delivering Flowers

To make a little extra cash I decided to deliver flowers on Valentines Day for a local flower shop. I delivered most of the day by myself and then later on in the day Derrick joined me and it was nice. We were able to deliver more in an hour then I had in the last two, and I thought I was delivering fast. I was able to deliver more then most of the other drivers because I delivered all the flowers to Davis County. Not many even knew the area well. Thanks to my Sweetheart who let me ride along on car openings to Davis County and those rides let me learn the streets really well!

Activity Days

I was sooo lucky to be able to take Ellie to Activity Days with young girls in our ward (8-11). I already got to go to cub scouts with all the boys (8-11) in the ward. LOVE all of these kids! Here is a picture of my niece Sera and my sweetheart ELLIE! Sera was soo sweet to her!

Happy Valentine's Day

Piano

Derrick loves to play music, whether on the bag pipes, 5 harmonicas, tin whistle, piano, violin, ect… After taking bagpipe lessons with him I soon realized he couldn’t read music. WoW how had he gotten this far without reading music and making his music sound good.  I soon learned he can play anything by ear! He always wanted to read music but it never came naturally. With the recent discussion on wanting to learn the piano, we decided it was time to look on KSL for a piano. Our limited budget of less then $100 wasn’t going to get us anything fancy. I was happy to find a beautiful piano In our budget but it was in someone’s basement! The stars aligned and we got the help we needed and it wasn’t too hard to get it out and into our house! A big thanks to those who helped! We love playing and I have enjoyed taking lessons again! PS the piano was exactly the style I am in-love with!
