Boise

For Memorial day this year we choose to drive to Boise and stay with our best friends, Gaylene and Brent. Derrick was dying to shoot with Brent and I wanted to cook, clean, shop, and of course, TALK! Gaylene and I have been BFFs since 1997. We still talk and tx often! She has helped me through the good, bad, and the ugly, and the great times! Pretty much ALL the time! She needs a new phone so I can bug her more often!!

My favorite cookies!

My favorite cookies in the whole world to make and eat are a chocolate chip oatmeal walnut. I actually found the recipe on the back of cubed Crisco package! But I changed craisens to chocolate chips.

INGREDIENTS:

• Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray

• 3/4 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening

• OR 3/4 Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening

• 3/4 cup sugar

• 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

• 2 large eggs

• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

• 1 cup All Purpose Flour

• 1 teaspoon baking soda

• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• 1/4 teaspoon salt

• 2 3/4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

• 1 cup dried cranberries (I use chocolate chips)

• 1 cup chopped walnuts

PREPARATION DIRECTIONS:

. 1. HEAT oven to 350ºF. Coat baking sheets with no-stick cooking spray.

. 2. BEAT shortening, sugar and brown sugar in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in small bowl. Beat into shortening mixture until smooth. Stir in oats, dried cranberries and walnuts. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2-inches apart on prepared baking sheets.

. 3. BAKE 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown. Cool on baking sheets 2 minutes. Place on cooling rack to cool completely.

First outing in Bountiful

One day driving down the street in Bountiful, we saw a billboard for the sidewalk chalk festival! We are so glad now that we decided to go! WoW , it was quite fun to walk down main street and socialize. We ran into friends, family and neighbors! We found out that these people have to sign up for this way in advance and they get to work the week on drawing before it is judged! There were different categories to enter into! People from out of town came to draw too; businesses would sponsor their employees to draw! They were amazing!! It was fun to come back through the week and see how their drawings progressed!The sad part was when the rain came before most were finished; many tried to protect them with a plastic cover. Most of the paintings were casualties of the rain!
