To make a little extra
cash I decided to deliver flowers on Valentines
Day for a local flower shop. I
delivered most of the day by myself and then later on in the day Derrick joined
me and it was nice. We were able to deliver more in an hour then I had in the
last two, and I thought I was delivering fast. I was able to deliver more then
most of the other drivers because I delivered all the flowers to Davis County. Not many even knew the area well. Thanks to my Sweetheart who let me ride along on car openings
to Davis County and those rides let me learn the streets really well!

Activity Days
I was sooo lucky
to be able to take Ellie to Activity Days with young girls in our ward
(8-11). I already got to go to cub scouts with all the boys (8-11) in the ward.
LOVE all of these kids! Here is a picture of my
niece Sera and my sweetheart ELLIE! Sera was soo sweet to her!
Happy Valentine's Day
Piano
Derrick loves to
play music, whether on the bag pipes, 5 harmonicas, tin whistle, piano, violin,
ect… After taking bagpipe
lessons with him I soon realized he couldn’t read music. WoW how had he gotten
this far without reading music and making his music sound good. I soon learned he can play anything by ear!
He always wanted to read music but it never came naturally. With the recent
discussion on wanting to learn the piano, we decided it was time to look
on KSL for a piano. Our
limited budget of less then $100 wasn’t going to get us anything fancy. I was
happy to find a beautiful piano In our budget but it was in someone’s basement!
The stars aligned and we got the help we needed and it wasn’t too hard to get
it out and into our house! A big thanks to those who helped! We love playing
and I have enjoyed taking lessons again! PS the piano was exactly the style I
am in-love with!
The Game’s Afoot
Derrick was given two tickets to The Game’s Afoot at
the SLC Hale Theatre! We loved it and I
couldn’t stop giggling! If anyone gets the chance to attend it, I would highly
recommend it!
“The Game’s Afoot” begins with famed stage
actor William Gillette at his Connecticut castle, recovering from an attempt on
his life following a performance of his renowned play, “Sherlock Holmes.” It’s
Christmas Eve, and much to his mother Martha’s chagrin, William invites fellow
actors Aggie, Simon, Felix and Madge over for the holiday weekend. His
elaborate home, filled with gadgets and hidden passageways, becomes the setting
for a murder, and Gillette must use the Sherlock Holmes crime-solving skills he
made famous on stage to catch the culprit.
Thanks Jake and Hollie for a fun night out!
Birthday Madness
I’ll
be the first to admit that I hate celebrating birthdays. I don’t like mine,
in-fact, I make sure my birthdate is not attached to my Facebook or any other
social media. I’m not a BIRTHDAY SCROOGE, I like it when
friends and family call and I do the same for them. I allow Derrick to celebrate my
birthday because he LOVES his so much! I have all the control of what we do and
where we go! It is just another day of the year for me! I get a little anxious
that if I give him full rein, he will
publish it for the entire world to hear!
So when
Derrick’s comes around it is very hard for me to make a BIG DEAL about it! I
wouldn’t mind giving a gift, making a favorite dinner, and having cake’n ice
cream.
That is not what Derrick has in mind; his birthday is more like a month of celebrating (if he had
is way). I went on a limb this year and made it special…. This was beyond
everything I wanted to do!! Here is why I did it though.
Derrick
was born January 13th and funny enough, his GOLDEN birthday (turned
13 on the 13th) was even on a Friday. This only happens every 7
years. Well Derrick’s 29th
birthday was this year! Given the date, and day of the week I made it a
superstitious surprise party. I invited our family, friends, and neighbors.
I
sent out broken glass looking invites, decorated the house with bad luck
superstitions, lots of yummy food, my dad’s all black cat, and we had lots of
fun with friends and family! What a great party…. It still didn’t convince me
to do it again in another year! Lol
After
the party some of Derrick’s friends stayed and played board games and they each
wore a hat of D’s just for fun! Thank you everyone who made it a fun night!
January, 5th 2012
On this evening my
mother-in-law was over helping me with some homework when Derrick rushed into
the house after running an errand for me. He told us he had heard some gunshots.
I quickly dismissed the very idea. Soon
we got a call from Derrick’s brother asking what the cross street was of our house because there had been a shooting; this shooting was all over the news.
Literally it was a few blocks North of
us on our road. WOW it was a little too close for comfort! Derrick got out his police scanner and began
listening to the reports of police officers down. It wouldn't be until the next
day that we found out one officer had been killed and several others severely
wounded.
I have loved
living in Ogden, but the days following I felt the community pulled together to
support this fallen officer and wounded officer’s families! It reaffirmed why I loved living there.
We were
asked by our ward to be along the funeral precession route supporting Agent
Jared Francom. The
Boys Scouts of America asked us to be along the route in uniform with flags. We
took the afternoon off from work and school and supported this hero, he was only doing his job. He left
behind a loving wife and two little girls, and many other friends and family. This
precession route lasted about 2 hours!
How incredible,
I happily waited in the cold with no coat on (I wanted
my scout uniform to show) for someone protecting my
neighborhood!
